Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. Here's exactly what we collect when you request a quote, why, and who we share it with — one local plumber, and nobody else.
Last updated: 4 July 2026
This policy explains how we handle personal data when you request a quote through, or otherwise use, our website. We process data in line with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. Who we are
The data controller is Phil Thomas Tech Ltd, operating the site www.macclesfieldplumbers.co.uk ("Macclesfield Plumbers", "we", "us", "our"). We run a free service that puts homeowners in touch with one independent local plumber covering Macclesfield. We are not a lead marketplace and we do not sell enquiries.
Contact: hello@macclesfieldplumbers.co.uk
We handle data protection enquiries by email.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
When you request a quote or get in touch: your name, phone number, email address (if provided), postcode, and the details of the job you describe. We don't ask for more than the plumber needs to call you back and price the job.
Information we collect automatically
If you consent to analytics cookies, we collect aggregated information about how the site is used (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type). If you decline, none of this is captured. See our Cookie Policy.
3. Why we use your data (lawful bases)
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — when you submit the quote form and tick the consent box, you ask us to pass your details to the local plumber who covers your area so they can contact you. This is also the basis for any non-essential (analytics) cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — to respond to your enquiries, and to run, secure and improve the site. We only rely on this where your rights don't override it.
4. Who we share data with
The core of our service is an introduction, so sharing your enquiry is the whole point of submitting it — but it goes to one plumber only:
- Our local plumber — we pass the details of your job (name, contact details, postcode and what you need) to the single independent plumber who covers your area, so they can contact you about the work. They are an independent business and become responsible for the data we share with them. Your enquiry is not sent to any other trade.
- Vercel — website hosting, performance and security.
- Resend — delivering enquiry emails to us.
- Google Analytics — aggregated site usage statistics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
We do not sell your details to advertisers, data brokers or lead marketplaces, and we don't share them beyond what's needed to get your plumber on the phone to you. Data is stored in the UK or European Economic Area where possible; any transfer outside this area is covered by UK-approved safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. How long we keep data
- Quote enquiries: kept for up to 12 months so we can follow up and resolve any issues, then deleted.
- Analytics data: retained per our Google Analytics settings.
- Correspondence: kept only as long as needed to deal with your query.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate details.
- Delete your personal data.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
Email hello@macclesfieldplumbers.co.uk to exercise any of these. We respond within one month. Note that once we've passed your details to the plumber, you may also need to contact them directly about data they hold.
7. Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your data, please tell us first — email hello@macclesfieldplumbers.co.ukand we'll look into it. You can also complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows the current version.
